Manchester City & Harry Maguire
Man City manager Pep Guardiola has addressed transfer rumours linking the Sky Blues with Leicester centre-half Harry Maguire.
City are short a player at the back after Vincent Kompany left the Etihad Stadium to join Anderlecht.
Moreover, rumours have linked Nicolas Otamendi with a possible summer exit to join Valencia.
So, could Man City sign Leicester’s Maguire? Guardiola has made the following comments on Maguire, using the opportunity to have a dig at Bayern Munich regarding their pursuit of Leroy Sane:
We are looking for some names.
We shall see if the market is possible and the club believes we can spend that money, but if they don’t, we shan’t spend it.
Maguire is a Leicester player.
I know some people like Bayern Munich like to talk a lot about Leroy (Sane), but usually I never speak about players at other clubs.

Leicester react to Man United interest
Could Manchester United end up signing Maguire instead of City?
On Saturday, after Leicester beat Cheltenham Town in a pre-season friendly, Brendan Rodgers discussed Maguire’s ongoing future with the Foxes:
I don’t overthink it. I’m just training the players, working with the players. There’s been no great change from midweek. I don’t overthink it.
He’s a top-class player. We want to keep him (Maguire). Like I always say, whoever’s here will be here. We get to work with him.
Harry Maguire would be honoured to play for Manchester United and follow in the footsteps of his heroes Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, according to Sky Sources

It is something that is so refreshing that the board here, and (vice-chairman) Top, and Jon (Rudkin, director of football), everything always comes through myself.
It’s fairly simple and straightforward, there isn’t a need to sell. We don’t have to sell.
The club are ambitious but they recognise the reality of it, if a player has an opportunity and a fee is met then maybe there is a decision to make.
But at this moment we’re not at that point.
You always have to prepare for the what-if. If there was a situation where he did move on then the club have a number of targets that will be available.
