The Cheltenham Festival – the biggest week in the jump racing calendar begins today.
The festival has become a staple of racing lovers and part-time racing enthusiasts’ diets. In fact 2001 was the only year, besides the periods during the two World Wars that the Festival was cancelled – due to foot and mouth disease.
Roughly 250,000 spectators are expected through the Prestbury Park gates over the four-day festival and £4.6m prize money will be distributed among the winners and competitors of the 28 races.
